| We drove to the city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen; This town used to
be two separate cities, that were combined to one. In the winter,
it is a main attraction for the skiers, who gather in the town and
then leave for the resorts. In the off-season it can mainly be a nice
place to spend the nights. We had slept in a gorgeous Zimmer, overlooking
a beautiful view, called Gastehaus Christina, which is located in
61 Burgstrase St., telephone: 088211334, Fax: 0882154210. The owners
of the guest house are very kind, and they speak excellent English.
There are rooms which are cheap and small, which don't have any view,
and fancy, large rooms which include a kitchen, have view of the mountains,
and are rented usually for a few days. Since we had arrived late at
night, and that room wasn't rented out, we got it for a relatively
low price... for one night. If you are fans of Italian food, you'll
find an excellent Italian restaurant called Venice on the main street.
You can ask at your hotel or Zimmer. It is hard to miss, because of
its grand size in comparison to the rest of the rather small city.
