| From Den Haag, we went on a one day trip to the dam area in the
south. Through the N57 road, to the Haringvlietdam dam and on to the
Oosterscheldam dam. This impressive dams were built to keep the sea
apart from the river water flowing from the mainland. These dams create
huge inland lakes, that are allowed to spilled over to sea from time
to time. These dams are also important for flooding avoidance, they
prevent large sea waves from reaching the shores of Holland. |
